Tina Hauman - Endodontist
Tina graduated with a Master of Medical Science (MMedSci) in 1982 and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BCHD) in 1986, both from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She lectured full-time, first at MEDUNSA for four years and then at the Dental Faculty of the University of Stellenbosch for another seven years. She and her family moved to Dunedin in November 1997. She has lectured at the Dental Faculty at Otago University since early 1998. She completed a Master in Endodontics (MDS) at Otago University in 2002. Following her specialist training, she went into part-time private practice as an endodontist. She is still lecturing part-time at the Dental Faculty at Otago University.
Tina is passionate about her work as an endodontist and a lecturer. She has authored several original scientific papers, and has been the editor of the NZ Endodontic Journal for several years. She is an active member of the Otago and New Zealand Dental Association, the International Association for Dental Research, the New Zealand Society for Endodontics and the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists.
Tina is married to John. Their two grown-up children, Cathleen and Ian, both work and live in New Zealand.
Kerry Popham – Receptionist/practice administrator
Kerry’s friendly face will greet you when you arrive at our practice. She is our receptionist and practice administrator. Kerry has a Dental Assistant Certificate from Otago Polytechnic and a Diploma of Dental Therapy from Otago University. She has been working as a dental assistant and dental therapist for 18 years. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience, which will be of immense value to her in her new challenging and multifaceted role.
Her proficiency in using the Exact software program allows for excellent record keeping, as well as fast and efficient communication with patients and their referring dentists. She enjoys co-ordinating the care of each patient with the referring practice.
Kerry is approachable and knowledgeable, and will be able to attend to any queries you may have about your appointments, referrals, accounts or dental procedures.
Kerry lives with her partner Alan, her dog, three cats and 5 Alpacas on a lovely farm on the Taieri Plains. She has three children and two grandchildren.
Karen Stefani – Chairside assistant
After completing her Dental Assistant Certificate at Otago Polytechnic, Karen worked as a chair-side assistant in the postgraduate clinic at the Otago University Dental School for 8 years. She then worked as my chair-side assistant for 6 years at the multi-disciplinary specialist practice I worked at before setting up my own practice. The experience she gained in these roles has provided her with an excellent understanding of both the interaction between general dental practice and different dental specialties, as well as the challenges faced working in a specialist practice.
Karen has proved to be an excellent endodontic chair-side assistant. She enjoys interacting with patients and the supportive role of a chair-side assistant. Her vibrant and caring personality is renowned amongst our patients, and she manages to put even the most anxious patient at ease. She is a valuable member of our team, and is crucial to our aim of achieving the best possible outcome for each patient.
Karen is married to John and they have two children, Alia and Jake, both living and working in Dunedin.
